MONDAY: Depart Cork on your direct flight to Rome. On arrival in Rome airport, you will be met by a local Joe Walsh Tours Pilgrimage Co-ordinator, and transferred to your hotel in Rome.
TUESDAY: You will enjoy a half day orientation tour of Rome with a local guide. During this tour you will visit the Basilica of St John Lateran & Holy Stairs and St Peter’s Basilica & Square. You can also do a panoramic tour of ancient Rome, including the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Circus Maximus, Victor Emmanuel Monument and more. Mass will be arranged.
WEDNESDAY: Early morning departure from Rome for San Giovanni Rotondo, travelling via Nettuno. Here we will visit the tomb of Maria Goretti. In the shrine there is a crypt where lie the mortal remains of the saint. Free time for lunch. Arrive San Giovanni Rotondo for dinner in the Gaggiano Hotel where you will spend three nights on a full board basis.
THURSDAY-FRIDAY: Visit Friary: Padre Pio’s tomb, the cell where the Saint lived and died, the crucifix before which he received the stigmata, the old and new churches, the Way of the Cross etc. Celebrate masses at Padre Pio’s tomb or in the church of Our Lady of Grace. Visit Monte Sant’Angelo: the nearby shrine in the cave where the Archangel Michael appeared.
SATURDAY: Depart San Giovanni Rotondo for Sorrento where we will stay for 2 nights on a half board basis. En route visit the ancient town of Pompeii, an incredible journey back to life in Roman times. Pompeii lies at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, the volcano which erupted in 79AD, destroying the town. A guided tour will bring you through the excavated streets, shops, temples and Patrician villas, some of which contain surviving frescoes. Entrance and guide fees payable locally.
SUNDAY: Optional Excursion to the Island of Capri. Ferry crossing to the legendary island of Capri, once home to Roman Emperor Tiberius. Admire bustling, colourful scenes from the marina, enjoy breathtaking views from the scenic town of Anacapri or browse among the many shops, bars and cafes.
MONDAY: Afternoon departure for Rome airport and return flight to Cork.

We reserve the right to cancel any tour up to 4 weeks before departure date, if adequate booking levels have not been achieved or maintained. We reserve the right to alter travel arrangements if deemed necessary, in the case of circumstances beyond our control. All accommodation is based on shared twin bedded rooms with facilities. If people wish to share we can arrange this, but please note we may have to use three bedded rooms where numbers are not even.
