FRIDAY: Depart Dublin on your direct flight to Rome. On arrival in Rome airport, you will be met by a local Joe Walsh Tours Pilgrimage Co-ordinator, and transferred to your hotel in Rome.
SATURDAY: You will enjoy a half day orientation tour of Rome with a local guide. During this tour you will visit the Basilica of St John Lateran & Holy Stairs and St Peter’s Basilica & Square. You can also do a panoramic tour of ancient Rome, including the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Circus Maximus, Victor Emmanuel Monument and more. Mass will be arranged.
SUNDAY: Mass will be arranged in the morning. Papal Blessing in St Peter’s Square (subject to the Pope being in Rome). Depart for Assisi where we will stay for 2 nights on a half board basis.
MONDAY: Visit the impressive 13th Century Basilica of St. Francis, the Basilica of St Clare and the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, which houses the Porziuncola - the chapel of St. Francis’ first community and cradle of the Franciscan order. Mass will be arranged.
TUESDAY: Early morning departure from Assisi, travelling via Cascia, hometown of St Rita. Visit the Basilica of St Rita and celebrate mass there. Free time for lunch before continuing on our journey to San Giovanni Rotondo. Arrive for dinner and overnight in hotel.
WEDNESDAY – THURSDAY: Visit the Friary; the cell where the Saint lived and died, the crucifix before which he received the stigmata, the old and new churches and the Way of the Cross. We will have the privilege of visiting the saint’s tomb and seeing the exhumed body of Padre Pio. Celebrate mass in the church of Our Lady of Grace. Visit Monte Sant’Angelo: the nearby shrine in the cave where the Archangel Michael appeared. Visit St Matthew’s monastery in the nearby town of San Marco in Lamis and browse through the local markets.
FRIDAY: Depart San Giovanni Rotondo for Rome, visiting Pietrelcina, birthplace of Padre Pio en route. Mass will be arranged. Continue on for Rome airport and return flight to Dublin.

ITINERARY AND FLIGHT DETAILS MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. The above tour is dependent upon a minimum of 50 passengers booked to operate. We reserve the right to cancel any tour up to 4 weeks before departure date, if adequate booking levels have not been achieved or maintained. We reserve the right to alter travel arrangements if deemed necessary, in the case of circumstances beyond our control. All accommodation is based on shared twin bedded rooms with facilities. If people wish to share we can arrange this, but please note we may have to use three bedded rooms where numbers are not even.
