This itinerary is designed to provide a unique experience of New Zealand highlighting the must-see regions of the county and showcasing distinctive properties. Day 1 Arrive Auckland where you will be met by our local representative who will hand over detailed tour documentation. Collect your automatic hire car and make your way to your accommodation, Aachen House Boutique Hotel. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure.   Day 2 Depart Auckland and head south over the Bombay Hills to Rotorua via Waitomo (approx. 203kms to Waitomo). On arrival in Waitomo you may like to take a guided tour of the subterranean glow-worm grotto. Continue south over the Mamaku Ranges to Rotorua (approx. 160kms to Rotorua).  Accommodation: The Springs, Rotorua. Day 3 Full day to spend at your leisure in Rotorua.    Day 4 Depart Rotorua and make your way via scenic Lake Taupo to the Tongariro National Park (approx. 180kms). Accommodation: Bayview Chateau Tongariro. Day 5 Depart the Tongariro National Park and make your way further south to Wellington - the capital city of New Zealand (approx. 336 kms). Accommodation: Lambton Heights Boutique B&B. Day 6 Full day at your leisure.  You may like to visit Te Papa Museum, drive to the top of Mt Victoria for scenic views over Wellington and the harbour or enjoy a cable car ride. Day 7 Return your rental car and take the InterIslander Ferry across Cook Strait to Picton (10:35/13:35). On arrival in Picton collect your new automatic rental car and make the short drive to Blenheim (approx. 28 kms). Spend the remainder of the day at leisure. This afternoon you may wish to visit some of the many wineries that surround Blenheim. Accommodation: The Peppertree, Blenheim. Day 8 Depart Blenheim this morning and make your way to Kaikoura (approx. 129 kms). On arrival in Kaikoura you may wish to include a whale watch excursion by boat or air. Accommodation: Miharotia Boutique B&B. Day 9 Depart Kaikoura and head inland over Lewis Pass to Hokitika on the West Coast (approx. 376 kms). Accommodation: Kapitea Ridge, Hokitika. Day 10 Depart Hokitika and make your way down the West Coast via Franz Josef to Fox Glacier (approx. 175kms). Accommodation: Te Weheka Inn, Fox Glacier. Day 11  Depart Fox Glacier and travel via Haast Pass and Wanaka to Queenstown (approx. 380kms). Accommodation: Browns Boutique Hotel, Queenstown.  Day 12 Enjoy a full day at your leisure.  You may like to take a thrilling jetboat ride on the Shotover River, bungy jumping, horse riding, rafting or perhaps just relax and enjoy the magnificent scenery. Day 13 Today you may like to take a scenic drive via Te Anau to Milford Sound and enjoy a cruise on the breathtaking sound (approx. 291 kms each way) Day 14 Depart Queenstown and make your way via Cromwell and Omarama to the alpine village of Mount Cook (approx. 263kms). Whilst at Mount Cook you may like to take a scenic flight with a landing on the Tasman Glacier. Dinner is included this evening at your hotel. Accommodation: The Hermitage Hotel, Mount Cook.  Day 15 Depart Mount Cook and make your way via scenic Lake Tekapo and Ashburton to Christchurch (approx. 331kms). Spend the remainder of the day at leisure in Christchurch.
