
Day 1: Thursday 18th September - Departure
Depart Dublin airport on your direct flight to Lisbon. On arrival you will be met by our local Joe Walsh Tours representative and transferred to your hotel on the Lisbon coast for seven nights on a half board basis.
Day 2: Friday 19th - Estoril Coast
Enjoy a day at leisure to relax and get to know your surroundings. Bask in the sun on one of the beautiful sandy beaches or explore the coastal towns of Cascais and Estoril at your own pace. Arranged entirely around a trio of small sandy coves, and backed by dramatic cliffs, Cascais has a relaxing ambiance and still retains its original fishing village atmosphere. Explore the narrow streets, browse in the charming little shops and sample the traditional fare in the many local cafes.
Day 3: Saturday 20th – Lisbon City
Today your luxury coach will take you to the capital city, Lisbon, where you will have a guided tour of the city. You will visit the downtown district, the romantic Alfama and the Moorish Quarter. You will also see St James Castle, the Tower of Belem and the Monastery of the Hieronymites by the river Tagus or Tejo. Enjoy some free time to have lunch in one of the city’s many cafes or restaurants and take the afternoon at leisure to continue shopping, sightseeing or exploring Lisbon at your ease.
Day 4: Sunday 21st - Sintra
This morning you will take a trip to Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a region of great natural beauty. The town is steeped in history with prehistoric, Roman, Moorish and Romantic influences. You will drive out to the Cabo da Roca, situated at the far end of Sintra’s mountains and Continental Europe’s most westerly point. The lighthouse here offers magnificent views of the Atlantic and the surrounding landscape.
Day 5: Monday 22nd - Optional wine tour
Today you may wish to explore one of Portugal’s main wine regions on an optional tour. Enjoy a drive through beautiful sun-kissed countryside and visit some of the villages of the region, which are rich in history and culture. The highlight of your day will be a visit to a vineyard where you will see part of the wine making process and taste some of the excellent local produce.
Day 6: Tuesday 23rd - Optional Fatima tour
Today enjoy a day at leisure or take an optional excursion to Fatima to visit the Catholic Marian shrine, Fatima Parish Church and places associated with the apparitions.
Day 7: Wednesday 24th - Day at leisure
Today will be spent at leisure; relax and bask in the sun on sandy beaches, further explore the local towns and villages or fit in some last minute shopping or sightseeing.
Day 8: Thursday 25th - Return home
Today you will enjoy a final look around before making your way to Lisbon for your return flight to Dublin.
