Day 1 – Rome Depart Dublin Airport on our direct flight to Rome or Naples. On arrival you will be met by your Joe Walsh Tours representative and transferred to our hotel in Rome for three nights on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2 – Introduction to the Eternal City You will begin your week with a guided orientation tour of Rome. Your expert local guide will highlight some of the city’s most important, famous and breathtaking sights, such as the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Circus Maximus, the King Victor Emmanuel Monument, St. Peter’s Basilica and more.
Day 3 – Explore Rome at leisure Take time out today to explore the wonders of Ancient, Christian, Baroque or Renaissance Rome at your leisure. Enjoy a stroll through the cobblestone streets of the city centre, window-shopping or take a seat at a chic streetside cafe and enjoy a glass of wine or sample some of the local fare.
Day 4 – Sorrento After breakfast you will bid Rome ‘arrivederci’ and leave for Sorrento, where you will be staying for four nights on a half board basis. En route to Sorrento you will have the option to visit the ancient town of Pompeii to experience an incredible journey back to life in Roman times. Pompeii lies at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, the volcano which destroyed the town when it erupted in 79AD. You may wish to enjoy a guided tour of the ruins which brings you through the excavated streets, shops, temples and Patrician villas, some of which contain surviving frescoes.
Day 5 - Isle of Capri - Optional This morning you have the option of taking the ferry to the legendary island of Capri, which was once home to Roman Emperor Tiberius. Admire bustling, colourful scenes from the marina or enjoy breathtaking views from the scenic town of Anacapri. Take a mini-cruise around the bay and islands of Ischia and Procida or make an excursion to the magical Blue Grotto.
Day 6 – Amalfi Coast Today you will enjoy a journey along the Amalfi Coast - one the most spectacular coastlines in the world. Not only will you enjoy breathtaking views, you will also have the chance to visit the pretty town of Amalfi, with time to shop for ceramics or to try some of the local cuisine. The famous cathedral in Amalfi town centre is well worth a visit and the charming cobbled streets just beg to be explored.
Day 7 – Sorrento at leisure Day at leisure in Sorrento to do all your last minute shopping and sightseeing or just bask in the sun.
Day 8 – Return home Depart Sorrento to connect with your return flight to Dublin from either Rome or Naples. |
