Day 1 - Departure Depart Dublin Airport on direct flight to Rome. On arrival you will be met by your Joe Walsh Tours representative and transferred to your hotel in Rome for one night on a bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2 - Sienna Morning departure from Rome for the heart of Tuscany’s wine region, and one of the most appealing towns in all of Italy, Sienna. Its medieval streets and piazzas beg to be explored. The highlight of your visit will be Piazza del Campo, Sienna’s main square, and host to the annual Palio horse racing festival. Free time for lunch before continuing on to Montecatini, our base for the next six nights. Dinner in hotel.
Day 3 – Pisa Enjoy a half days sightseeing in the world famous town of Pisa. Be amazed by the Romanesque Leaning Tower of Pisa and the other three buildings in the ensemble that is known as ‘Campo dei Miracoli’; The Duomo, The Baptistery and The Composanto. It is a pleasure to just walk around and browse in Pisa, the city is very compact with many narrow streets, small markets, hidden treasures and a great ambience.
Day 4 – Florence Visit Florence, capital of the Tuscan region and of the Italian Renaissance. Meet your expert local guide who will take you on a walking tour around the main sights of this compact city; the Duomo, Campanile and Baptistery, the Uffizi Gallery (externally) and Ponte Vecchio. Return to hotel in time for dinner and a relaxing evening.
Day 5 – Day at leisure Enjoy a day at leisure and take this opportunity to get to know your surroundings in Montecatini. Take the quaint cable car up to the little town of Montecatini Alto and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Enjoy some excellent shopping or pamper yourself in one of the many local thermal spas.
Day 6 - Lucca & Vineyard - Optional Lucca is a wonderful small Tuscan town. Its famous walls enclose a place that can be wandered with ease. One of Italy’s finest medieval treasures, the centre is relatively unspoilt and is scattered with palazzi, towers and countless splendid churches. The surrounding hills produce excellent wines and olive oils. You will also visit a local vineyard to see how a grape develops into a glass of red and of course have the opportunity to taste some of the local produce.
Day 7 – Day at leisure Free day to enjoy the sights and shops.
