Western Australia

Western Australia is Australia’s largest state and covers 1/3 of the continent. It is adored for its brilliant blue skies, warm sunny climate and white sandy beaches and offers a variety of activities and contrasting sights. The sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean and the Great Southern Ocean sweep the western shores, while vast dry deserts largely make up the eastern half of the state.

Western Australia is home to some of Australia’s most famous sights including The Ningaloo Reef, The Pinnacles, Kalbarri and Margaret River, Rottnest Island, The Bungle Bungles and Monkey Mia.

Perth, the capital city, is built on the banks of the magnificent Swan River and has a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere making it an ideal starting point for exploring this immense state. It is a sophisticated and modern city and reflects the friendly and relaxed lifestyle of W.A. It also enjoys more hours of sunshine than any other capital city in Australia. It is surrounded by beaches, with nearly 80 kms of strand within the city limits alone.

There is plenty to see and do in Perth, with a choice of top-class tours, cruises and adventure excursions on offer to showcase the highlights of the region. In addition, the seaside resorts of Fremantle and Scarborough are close to Perth city and provide a relaxed beachy alternative to the slickness of the city with a variety of excellent accommodation options and excellent resort facilities.

The Margaret River region boasts an array of world-class wineries and gourmet vineyard restaurants. Responsible for producing less than one percent of Australia’s wine - but over 15 per cent of Australia’s premium wine – make sure you embark on a wine tour of this region.

Rottnest Island is a small island situated just off the coast of Perth, famous for its snorkelling, diving, surfing and swimming. The semi-arid Mediterranean style climate and indigenous flora and fauna of this island make it a top choice for a day trip or excursion. There are numerous shipwrecks found around the island it is home to the strange looking quokka - the small marsupials which inspired the island’s name.

Broome is at the northern tip of W.A. and its main attraction is 22km long Cable Beach, considered among the best in the world. The Kimberley region is both wild and wonderful and is one of the world’s last great wilderness areas featuring ancient gorges, picturesque rock pools and idyllic beaches.
