Coober Pedy is a truly unique town on the edge of South Australia’s Great Victoria Desert and is the world’s major source of precious opal. It promises to be a real highlight of your holiday with a range of fascinating sights & experiences to enjoy.
Day 1: Arrive in Coober Pedy and transfer to the world’s first underground hotel, the Desert Cave. Enjoy the remainder of day at leisure to explore Coober Pedy and discover its bizarre attractions.
Day 2: After breakfast (own expense) you join the Desert Cave Town Tour, which includes a visit to a former working opal mine for a guided tour with opal cutting and polishing demonstration. Visit to the “Dog Fence” - the longest continual construction in the world. You will also visit “The Breakaways” - a striking & unique example of arid scenery. From the flat-topped mesas to the stony gibber desert, remnants of millions of years provide a wealth of geological interests and breathtaking views. The region is rich in Aboriginal and European history and is home to an array of native fauna and flora, which have successfully adapted to one of the world’s harshest environments.

Travel south from Adelaide through vineyards and olive groves to the famous McLaren Vale. As part of this tour you will visit one of the renowned wineries to taste the wines of the region then take in the panoramic views from Willunga Hill before arriving in Victor Harbor for lunch (own expense). Visit Port Elliott for views of the Great Southern Ocean and Goolwa at the mouth of the Murray River.

Your day begins with a scenic coach trip down through the Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis. Here you'll board SeaLink's fast and comfortable ferry for the 45 minute crossing to Kangaroo Island.
On arrival, settle back in the comfort of your coach and let the scenery slide past on your way to Seal Bay, where you will enjoy a beach walk among a breeding colony of Australian sealions. Guided by a National Park Rangers, this really is the experience of a lifetime.
After a two course lunch we head down to Flinders Chase National Park for the rest of the afternoon. Flinders Chase is internationally renowned as a sanctuary for a host of native Australian animals - kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, echidnas, goannas and more. You will walk along the rugged southern coastline to Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch. Remarkable Rocks provide a spectacular backdrop for all creative photographers so bring plenty of film! Admiral's Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to confront a spectacular rock arch and a nursery haven for fur seals. Then transfer to the air terminal for your return flight to Adelaide.

This tour features Wilpena Pound - a spectacular rock basin and both Bunyeroo Valley and Brachina Gorge, as well as the Clare Valley wine growing district. Accommodation and meals are included. Day 1: Depart 7 am Highlights: St Vincents Gulf, Port Wakefield, Locheil, Historic colonial sea port of Port Germein, Melrose - the oldest town in the Southern Flinders Ranges, Historic railway junction of Quorn connecting the vast Australian Outback with the east, Ruins of the 1860s town of Kanyaka, Spectacular views of Wilpena Pound from Pugilist Lookout. Enjoy a night at the Wilpena Pound Resort Motel.
Day 2: Highlights: Bunyeroo Valley, Picturesque views over from Razorback Lookout, Brachina Gorge, Stockman's Lookout offers stunning views of the flat Outback plains, Outback town of Parachilna - population 6! Tour through the Clare Valley wine region - stopping for lunch (own expense) en route. Arrive back to Adelaide 18.00pm
